Cady Coleman - The Gear Spotlight with Andre Cholmondeley

Dr. Cady Coleman is a chemist, retired United States Air Force Colonel, and former NASA Astronaut with more than 180 days in space. With two space shuttle missions, six months as Lead Robotics and Lead Science officer on the International Space Station, she has an incredible insight to life in space…..including playing music.

Cady is a Professor of the Practice at ASU, a Research Affiliate at the MIT Media Lab, and advocates for inclusion in STEM and STEAM fields and on teams everywhere. She recently co-anchored ABC News Live’s Special Reports covering the SpaceX launch and the Perseverance Mars Rover landing.

In her spare time aboard the ISS, Cady played the flute 220 miles above the earth, joining Jethro Tull flutist Ian Anderson for a duet between earth and space. She has performed onstage with Tull, and on an album by Irish legends The Chieftains. For the movie “Gravity”, she coached actress Sandra Bullock in preparation for Bullock’s role as a stranded astronaut.

Cady Coleman currently co-hosts the Mission: Interplanetary podcast.
